Resumo : .
Resumo em lingua estrangeira: Traumatic hip dislocation is common in veterinary patients, occurring more frequently in dogs after car accidents. Surgery to reduce and stabilize the dislocation is indicated, as the extra-articular technique is safer and with satisfactory results, avoiding iatrogenic joint injuries. The objective of this study was to report the technique of extra-articular stabilization through ileo-ischio-trochanteric suture in cases of traumatic hip dislocation. Cases: Two dogs and a cat were treated at the Veterinary Hospital of UFMT with traumatic hip dislocation. Both cases were referred for reduction of the open hip dislocation using the ileoilio-trochanteric suture technique, which consists of inserting 2 screws into the dorsal edge of the acetabulum and making a hole in the trochanteric fossa so that it receives a suture forming a triangle and stabilizing the joint. In the reported cases, there were no changes that compromised surgical success, such as dehiscence of extra-articular and cutaneous sutures, dislocation or infection during hospitalization. Skin diecence was observed in cases 01 and 03. In case 01 there was dehiscence of all skin points on the fourth postoperative day, where a new suture was made. In case 03 there was dehiscence of only 2 skin points, the same being treated as healing by second intention. In all cases reported in this article, there was no recurrence of hip dislocation. In case 03, in addition to the dislocation, there was also a fracture of the femur, which was reduced. Discussion: Since traumatic hip dislocation is common in veterinary patients, more and more less invasive techniques are sought, which even cause joint trauma. The ileo-ischio-trochanteric suture technique has the advantages of not requiring new surgery to remove implants, in addition to being easy to perform, with high surgical success, without reaching the joint, which would lead to possible iatrogenic injuries. All patients described in this article did not present a satisfactory result, with no recurrence of the hip dislocation.
